> bob dylan – “tell tale signs” album review
First of all let me make a confession that my favorite Bob Dylan album is 1989′s Oh Mercy. So with 8 of the tracks coming from the Oh Mercy era there was a good chance I would like this release. Out-takes, alternate versions and live tracks can make for an uneven album, but the fact that these two discs are so strong attests to the genius that is Bob Dylan. The alternate tracks equal or surpass their previous versions , the outtakes leave you wondering why they were left off in the first place and the live versions seem to leap out of the speakers. Front to back this is the most engaging album since Oh Mercy. Tell Tale Signs might whet your appetite for the albums these sessions come from, but they set such a high standard maybe you’ll be disappointed!
Here is an example of each type of song to listen to:
Alternate version of Most Of the Time (Oh Mercy)
Unreleased from Time Out of Mind – Dreamin of You
Live Lonesome Day Blues
